{"id":22885,"date":"2014-09-08T13:54:33","date_gmt":"2014-09-08T13:54:33","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.moorclinical.com\/news\/ldi-reduces-hospital-stay-and-costs-of-burn-treatment-in-lithuania\/"},"modified":"2014-09-08T13:54:33","modified_gmt":"2014-09-08T13:54:33","slug":"ldi-reduces-hospital-stay-and-costs-of-burn-treatment-in-lithuania","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.moorclinical.com\/en-us\/news\/ldi-reduces-hospital-stay-and-costs-of-burn-treatment-in-lithuania\/","title":{"rendered":"LDI reduces hospital stay and costs of burn treatment in Lithuania"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The results of a prospective randomised study of 57 burn patients treated in the University Hospital of Kaunas in the period 2009\u20132011 was recently published on PubMed Central &#8211; see full article <a href=\"http:\/\/www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov\/pmc\/articles\/PMC3983546\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">here<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>The aim of this clinical study was to compare two different methods of examination of burned patients (clinical burn depth examination and laser Doppler imaging) to estimate the impact of the methods on the length of patient&#8217;s stay in hospital and the costs of burn treatment. They concluded that the length of stay and cost of treatment of patients with deep burns were significantly reduced in the LDI group, compared with the clinical burn depth examination group.<\/p>\n<p>This is great news and we are pleased to see more evidence that the laser Doppler is making a positive impact in the treatment of burn injuries.
