Glossary

% TBSA

Percentage total body surface area of burn wound.

CCD image

Colour video image/photograph taken by the moorLDI2 imager during scanning.

CF

Confounding factors.

Confounding factors

Any factors which may affect correct interpretation of the moorLDI image.

DC image

Greyscale image displayed alongside the flux image during the moorLDI scan.

Healing potential

Time in which the burn wound has the potential to heal as determined by LDI.

High Laser Reflection

When the line of the laser is perpendicular to the surface of the area scanned, points of high reflection (high DC) may be seen and as a result the signal does not accurately represent flux levels.

HP14

Healing potential of 14 days: indicates the wound has the potential to heal within 14 days of the injury occurring.

HP14-21

Healing potential of 14 to 21 days: indicates the wound has the potential to heal between 14 and 21 days of the injury occurring.

HP>21

Healing potential of greater than 21 days: indicates the wound will take longer than 21 days to heal (data gathered from wounds that healed after 21 days and surgically treated wounds where biopsies indicated at least 3rd degree burn).

LD

Laser Doppler.

LDI

Laser Doppler image.

LDPM

Laser Doppler perfusion monitoring.

LDLS

Laser Doppler line scanner.
