Thank you to all who visited our booth to meet with us at the British Burn Association Conference last week at the Hilton Gateshead in Newcastle. There was a very packed and interesting programme this year with a very moving presentation from Dr Ruxandra Mihai (Bagdasar Hospital, Bucharest) regarding her personal experience during the tragic Colectiv nightclub fire late last year. Never have we heard such a moving presentation where the audience remained totally captivated despite not a single slide being shown. A well deserved standing ovation for Dr Mihai followed the conclusion of her presentation.
Much discussion was had regarding the European response to mass casualty burns, and is there a need for a European Mass Casualty Plan? An interesting topic indeed and one which will require the input of many in future months.
We would like to thank Mrs Joy Huston and Ms Jennifer Fitt, Dan’s Fund for Burns, for joining us on the stand this year (pictured below). We hope you made some useful connections at the meeting and wish you all the best in progressing your UK Burn Support Network. We look forward to working with you in the future. Congratulations to Mrs Sarah Pape on the successful organisation of this years’ meeting. We look forward to seeing you in London next year for the 50th anniversary of the BBA!
