Frequently Asked Questions
Q. What does the Laser Doppler Imager (moorLDI2-BI/moorLDLS-BI) machine do?
A. The machine takes a scan of a burn and shows a picture of the flow of blood inside the wound. This picture helps the burn care team predict how long the burn will take to heal, and helps them make decisions about the best course of treatment.
Q. How long does a scan take?
A. Depending on the equipment used and how large the burn is, scans can take a few seconds or up to one and a half minutes.
Q. Will I feel anything during the scan, or will the scan hurt?
A. No. The scan will not hurt, and patients do not feel it. The very low power laser won’t heat up the skin, but a red dot of light might be seen moving over the surface of the burn.
Q. Is it safe on children?
